This course includes a comprehensive study of Tagore’s life and musical creations. It also includes selected songs from Puja, Prem, Prakriti parjaay, Patriotic. Baul, Geetinatyas and Bhanusingher Padabali. Notation Reading of unknown songs (Rabindra Sangeet) has been included to enhance the students’ sense of Swaras.

Dr. Samita Mukherjee

Rabindra Bharati University (DDE), Kolkata, Salt Lake Campus

Dr. Samita Mukherjee has done her Masters and PhD in Rabindra Sangeet from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. She is also UGC NET qualified for Lectureship. A B-High artist of All India Radio, Kolkata in Rabindra Sangeet, she also excels in light Classical Bengali songs. She had the distinction of having five of her songs recorded for the project of AIR Rabindra Sangeet Archive. She is also a regular performer in Doordarshan, AiR, and in other TV Channels.

She has to her credit many papers and articles published in several journals and books (ISBN).

She was the Guest Lecturer in Rabindra Sangeet of Rabindra Bharati University and Bengal Music College (Calcutta University). She is also a regular Paper setter; Examiner and Scrutinizer of RBU and Calcutta University.

At present, she is an Assistant Professor of Rabindra Sangeet in Rabindra Bharati University (DDE), Salt Lake Campus, Kolkata.
