This course is about Indian Classical Dance - Kathak. This course facilitates students to learn all the aspects of Kathak Dance. From the History and the Origin of Kathak Dance, students will be able to understand the technical as well as aesthetical dimensions of this dance form. The modules contain all the traditional as well as contemporary modern styles of this dance form. Students would benefit not only from the video lectures but also through the reading material provided with each module.

Lalit kala Kendra, Center for Performing Arts, Savitribai Phule Pune University
Guru, Pta. Maneesah Satheji is one of the leading exponents of Kathak in India. After initially learning from Pt. Balasaheb Gokhale, she went on to receive training from Pt. Gopi Krishnaji. Pandita Maneesha Sathe is the torchbearer of Nataraj Gopi Krishnaji’s dance style and the founder of Maneesha Nrityalay Charitable Trust. Gifted with technical perfection, an aesthetic approach, sensitivity and imagination, she has experimented with a wide variety of themes: traditional, modern, concrete, abstract, folk as well as contemporary. She has to her credit over 200 items in traditional Kathak and has performed on scores of prestigious dance platforms in India as well as in other countries like Sweden, U.K., U.S.A., Canada, Bahrain and Japan.
