Under plant pathology the course entitled Diseases of Horticultural crops and their management deals with the causes of the diseases and its management on horticultural crops. In this course students will get the idea on the importance of the diseases which are causing losses to horticultural crops. They will get an idea on the development of disease, host-pathogen interaction, pathogen environment relation, pathogen survival and also will have an immense knowledge about the different management practices of the important diseases on various horticultural crops.

Instructor bio

Dr. Bireshwar Sinha

College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal

Dr. Bireshwar Sinha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, Manipur. He finished his PhD. from BCKVV, West Bengal. He completed many research projects funded by ICAR, DBT Govt. of India, DBT-RA etc. One of the major achievements that Dr. Bireshwar made was regarding the control measure. He proved that heat treatment of the ginger rhizome seeds at 47℃ for 30 minutes followed by treatments with Trichoderma spp @10g/kg rhizome gives best control followed by chemical treatments and treatments with garlic extracts. He has professional experience of teaching B.Sc(Agri), MSc(Plant Pathology) and PhD. He also has experiences in giving lectures on Trainers Training Programmes and is presently guiding 3 scholars. His list of publications includes - Referred Journal with NAAS ID-14, News Letter/ Non referred journal/ Farm Magazine with ISSN -15, Book Chapter-2 and News Paper article-10. Dr. Bireshwar submitted 22 Trichoderma spp and one Fusarium to NCBI gene bank with accession number in collaboration with NCIPM, New Delhi (2014-2015).
