Sport is the most precious commodity we can hand on to the next generation A crucial part of any sports organization’s management operation will be its organization and administration of the sporting events that are part of its sphere of operation. Sport, like so many other areas of life and business, changes radically and very quickly in this modern age. The contents of this course are meant to be of assistance to the students and practitioners of the business of sports administration and management. The course consists of five units namely Introduction to Management and Organizational Structure in unit one, Facilities and Equipments in unit two, Staff and their Qualities in unit three; Intramural, Extramural and Budget in unit four and lastly, Leadership and Public Relation in unit fives. The course will constantly recognize and emphasize on the fundamental background of management and sports administration which can be benefitted to administration and management practices within sports.

Week 1:   Administration and Management, Elements and Phases of  Management, Management in Physical Education and Sports, Schemes of Organization
Week 2:  Organizational Structure in Schools, Colleges and Universities, Organizational Structure in District and State Education, Outdoor Facilities, Ground Maintenance of outdoor facilities, Gymnasium and Swimming Pool
Week 3:  The Need for Equipments and their Types, Store Room Management, Stocking of Equipments
Week 4:  Head of the Institute/Department and his/ her Role, Office Management in physical Education, Qualifications and qualities of a good Physical Education teacher, Teacher’s Preparation before Class, Students Preparation-Handling and Controlling the Class and Attendance System.
Week 5: Meaning and Values of Intramural Program, Meaning and Educational Outcomes of Extramural programmes, Units, Events and Points System for Competition, Sample Rules for Intramurals and Rewards and Incentives for Winners
Week 6:  Tournament and Team Management, Tournament Management, Opening and Closing Ceremonies; Various Committees and their Responsibilities, Budget, maintenance of records and account keeping in Physical Education
Week 7:  Student Leadership: Meaning, Elements, and Values/Significance, Selection, Training and Recognition of Student Leaders, Principles and Needs for a Public Relation Program in Physical Education
Week 8: Public Relations in Physical Education, Techniques of Public Relation, Relation of the physical Education Teacher with the Students, Parents, Colleagues, Principal and Supervisor`

Instructor bio



Dr. Maibam Chourjit Singh is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, Manipur University, Imphal. He completed his M.P.E (Physical Education) and Ph.D from Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, Rajasthan. He has also completed P.G. Diploma in Sports Management from Alagappa University, Tamil Nadu and Diploma in Nutrition and Health education from IGNOU. So far he has published twenty seven research papers in various national and International reputed journals. He has also published three books including one text book on Basic Health Education. Further, he is the recipient of GLOBAL YOUTH AWARD 2014 by VK Duggal, His Excellency, the Governor of Manipur during Global Youth Meets 2014 and conferred International Best Oral Presentation Award Physical Education and Sports Science during International Science Congress (ISC 2013) held at Karunya University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
