Media Laws and ethics is a Curriculum-based course content of one of the graduate programs of humanities discipline. 

It is part of the approved curriculum being transacted in a few affiliated  Colleges of Pondicherry University and similar courses are being offered at many colleges across India. 

This course would offer many ideas related to law making in India, which include a brief history of the constitution of India, significant laws enacted related to Media and Communication since the colonial period, till date. It also tries to impart knowledge about morals and ethics. 

Primarily aimed at the students of communication, journalism, and media studies programmes.

Instructor bio

Dr. S. Arulselvan

Pondicherry University
Arulselvan. S. has 23 years of teaching experience in Universities. Served Consultant to UNESCO for two years on a Media Development project in Northern Sri Lanka during the ceasefire period. Translated a book for UNESCO on Human Rights and another one on Election Reporting. Developed interest in understanding issues related to ‘technology-enabled learning’, and served briefly EMRC of Pondicherry University as its Head i/c for about 2 and half years. Published papers on Dalit assertion, political communication, media and criminal justice. 30 Marks will be allocated for Continuous Assessment and 70 Marks will be allocated for end semester proctored examination
