An ecosystem is an overall integration of whole mosaic of interacting organisms and their environment. It is a basic, functional unit with no limits of boundaries, consisting of both biotic and abiotic components interacting with each other, both necessary for maintenance of life upon the earth. The course is aimed to serve undergraduate, post graduate and Integrated Basic Ecosystem and Ecology courses (taught in B.Sc, M.Sc, IG, M.phil./ Ph.D and Diploma Programmes) within the field of Environment, Agriculture and Science subjects. This course shall provide knowledge of the basic concepts of Ecosystems and its dynamics which includes, Species, Populations, Communities, Energy transference, Mode of interactions among all living and non-living components and various kinds of ecosystems and their conservation. The whole MOOC shall be divided into 06 units covering all the aspects of Ecosystem and its dynamics.

Dr. Syed Maqbool Geelani

SP College, Cluster University Srinagar
Dr. Syed Maqbool Geelani (Ph.D) worked as Lecturer Environment and water management at S.P. College, Cluster University Srinagar. He has specialization in Ecology, Environmental conservation, water treatment and management especially effluent of different types, waste Management, Environmental Sustainability and Natural Textile dyes. He has been teaching graduate and post graduate students for the past five years at college and university level and also served as Guest Faculty at Central University of Kashmir. He is an author of more than 30 scientific articles, 10 Book chapters and 04 books of national and international repute. He has received various awards related to publishing and presentation of his work. He is also working as an Environmental Expert in various organizations. He has also organized and participated various national and international training/workshops/seminars programmes and also serving as editorial board member/ reviewer for reputed international journals.
