Statistics is often termed as the “Science of Data”, which will help people in taking logical decisions during the times of uncertainty. It helps to draw conclusion and predict outcomes from a set of data specifically collected for.

Statistics provides the decision makers more confidence in dealing with ambiguous situations. Knowledge of statistics is applicable in day-to-day life of professionals belonging to different
fields. 

This course will provide an opportunity to understand basic theoretical and applied principles of Statistics that are required in their profession. Further, the learners will be able to understand various statistical tools and techniques, so that, they can use them in their routine.

This is a twelve (12) weeks course comprising of video lectures, weekly assessments and proctored examination at the end

Instructor bio

Dr. P. M. SHIVA PRASAD

Department of Commerce, Teresian College, Mysuru.
Dr. P. M. Shiva Prasad has rich inter-disciplinary teaching experience for BCom, MCom, MFM, MBA, MDM and MCA students. Besides publishing articles and presenting papers, he has delivered special lectures. He has organised many conferences and workshops.

He has been awarded ‘Certificate of Excellence’ for outstanding performance as Convenor in Micro-Insurance Awareness and Enrollment Mission by University of Mysore. He is a post-graduate in the disciplines of Commerce, Management and Economics and doctorate from University of Mysore. Presently, he is working as Assistant Professor and Research Guide in Department of Commerce, Teresian College, Mysuru.

Course certificate

Assessment/Assignment marks will be considered for Internal Marks and will carry 30 percent for overall Result.

End Term Exam- will have 100 questions and will carry 70 percent of  overall Result.

*All students, who obtain 40% marks in in-course assessment and 40% marks in end-term proctored exam separately, will be eligible for certificate and credit transfer.
