Tourism Geography is the study of travel and tourism as an industry and as a social and cultural activity.

Tourism geography covers a wide range of interests and these include the environmental impact of tourism, the geographies of tourism and leisure economies, answering tourism industry and management concerns and the sociology of tourism, and locations of tourism.

Geography is by and large the study of the interaction of all physical and human phenomena and landscapes created by such interactions. It is about how, why, and where human and natural activities occur and how these activities are interconnected.

The geography of tourism is dominated by a number of key themes related to location, place, space, human and cultural characteristics, and the movement of people.

The geography of tourism is also concerned with the flow of tourism from generating countries to different destinations. This can be heavily influenced by economic and political factors, with the flow of tourism being traditionally from developed countries to the less-developed ones.

Dr. Sridevi Kulenur, Course Coordinator for Massive Open Online Courses' (MOOCs) International Tourism Destinations course, is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Department of Management Studies, JSS CMS, SJCE Campus, JSS S&TU, Mysuru, and has ten years of experience in teaching. She also holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Management from the Visvesvaraya Technology University (VTU), Belgaum. She has contributed towards publication of research papers in National and International Journals, and also presented papers at National and International Conferences.

Course certificate

Assessment/Assignment marks will be considered for Internal Marks and will carry 30 percent for overall Result.

End Term Exam- will have 100 questions and will carry 70 percent of overall Result.

*All students, who obtain 40% marks in in-course assessment and 40% marks in end-term proctored exam separately, will be eligible for certificate and credit transfer.
