• This course will enable students to understand the different facets of World Heritage and its significance. 
• Students will also acquire the knowledge of the importance of antiquity, archaeological sites, tangible-intangible heritage, art treasures, national and international Conventions and Acts, government departments, museums, regulatory bodies etc. related to Heritage along with Conservation Initiatives. 
• It highlights the legal and institutional frameworks for heritage protection in India as also the challenges facing it. 
• This course will helpful for examining the implications of the rapidly changing interface between heritage and history. 
• This course will be strongly based on historical sites and monuments, therefore, at least two Projects will be provided on the Monuments/Heritage Sites as a case study.
• After completing this course the students can get the opportunity in International organizations, National agencies and Private sectors in the field of Heritage Conservation and Management.

Dr.Yogambar Singh Farswan

Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University
Dr. Yogambar Singh Farswan is a Professor in Environmental Archaeology at the Department of History and Archaeology, Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand, India. He has 34 years of research expertise since obtaining his PhD degree, publishing more than 60 research papers in peer-reviewed international and national journals. He pursued his Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) in Advanced Training in Applied Scientific and Analytical Archaeology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI, USA in 1994-95, supported by the Wenner Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research Incorporation, 220-Fifth Avenue, New York, USA. 

With over 30 years of teaching experience, he has instructed courses at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Pre-Ph.D. levels, encompassing topics such as: Museology and Archaeology, Environmental Archaeology, Bioarchaeology, Geoarchaeology, Historical Archaeology, Principles and Methods of Archaeology, Scientific and Analytical Archaeology, and Preservation and Conservation in Archaeology. 

Moreover, he has actively participated in over 50 international and national conferences and seminars and holds life membership in more than 10 academic and scientific bodies/societies. He has engaged in over 10 international academic visits, including to the USA, Canada, Italy, and Sri Lanka. He visited University of New England Elm Avenue Armidale Great Barrier Reef, Kuranda Forest and various other archaeological places in Cairns, Queensland, NSW 2350 Australia, during the ICAZ 2023 Conference from 7th to 14th August 2023.

He has supervised 6 students who have obtained their PhD degrees, with 3 students currently under his guidance.
