The course “History of urdu Language and Literature” is an Ability Enhancement Complimentary Course (AECC-3) in B.A Urdu (Hons) as per UGC CBCS Curriculum. The course is specially designed to supplement and enhance the understanding of students about the basis of urdu language and Literature. To make the students understand and acquaint with the early movements and institutions of urdu language. This course provides an in depth knowledge of some important movements like Fort William College, Delhi College, Dakniyat, role Sufis and early poets of northern india in the development of urdu Language.

Instructor bio

Dr. Shah Faisal Jan

Government Degree College Eidgah, Srinagar
Dr. Shah Faisal Jan holds master’s degree in Urdu from the University of Kashmir and did his his M.Phil and Ph.D under the supervision of (Late) Professor Majeed Muzmar a renowned Urdu scholar of his times at the University of Kashmir. Dr. Shah Faisal possesses Degree in Education and Urdu Journalism as well. He is currently working as Assistant Professor in GDC Eidgah. Before joining the college, he was Workimg lecturer at +2 level. During this time, he was associated with a District training institution (DIET) and was a master trainer in Urdu. His basic research interest is Urdu Fiction. He has four books and more than 20 research papers and book chapters to his credit. He is a member of many literary bodies like J&K Urdu Akademi, The Jammu and Kashmir Fiction Writers’ Guild and Editorial Board Member in Roznama Tameel-i- irshad Srinagar. He is also a member of the Board of Study at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels in university of Kashmir. He has attended about 20 seminars in different states of the country.

Course certificate

30 Marks will be allocated for Internal Assessment and 70 Marks will be allocated for end term proctored examination Securing 40% in both separately is mandatory to pass the course and get the Credit Certificate.
