This course is designed to help the teachers and teacher students to understand the theoretical as well as practical aspects of recent innovations in Teaching and Learning. This course offers an introduction to the theoretical outline of Teaching, Instruction, and Training followed by the differences between methods, models and strategies of teaching and learning. Introductory modules in the course cover the theoretical aspects of teaching and learning in general. Each module is presented with an introduction to the instructional/learning strategy followed by its exponents, basic elements, assumptions, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages and steps for developing lesson transcripts for the particular strategy. The course is organized around working teachers as well as student-teachers studying for B.Ed., Integrated B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed., B.El.Ed., D.El.Ed., M.Ed. etc. The course is expected to equip the participants in developing capacities to apply innovative strategies in teaching and learning in classrooms. The course content is arranged in a theory cum practical mode. This course will surely help the budding teachers as well as the working teachers to have a thorough orientation regarding the innovative strategies of teaching and learning together with tips for implementing specific strategies in classroom setting. This course will enable teachers to have a wider outlook on the changes happened and happening in classrooms in a global level. Once a teacher student/ teacher completes this course, he/ she can surely augment his/her repository of teaching and instruction and thereby achieve the declared aims of education.

Instructor bio

PROF. (DR.) A. HAMEED

UNIVERSITY OF CALICUT
Prof. (Dr.) A. Hameed, Professor, Department of Education, University of Calicut, Kerala is a Post Graduate in Education, History, Sociology, and Applied Psychology and a Ph.D. holder in Education and UGC-NET. He has 21 years of teaching experience and an excellent track record as a teacher educator, researcher, and academician. His areas of research and specialization include Innovative Strategies of Teaching and Learning, Educational Research, Social Science Education, Trends and Issues in Education, and Inclusive Education. He is an approved research guide of different universities and 6 students have been awarded Ph. D under his guidance. He has completed one research project funded by UGC. He is a resource person for various courses conducted by UGC-HRDCs, MHRD-TLCs, and various other governmental and non-governmental agencies. He has presented papers and invited lectures at national and international seminars and conferences. He has published more than 60 research papers in reputed national and international journals and 10 book chapters. He has developed, edited, and presented more than 100 e-contents on diverse topics in education under CEC, New Delhi and developed and ran 4 MOOCs on the MHRD-SWAYAM Platform.

Course certificate

30 Marks will be allocated for internal assessment and 70 Marks will be allocated for end term proctored examination. Securing 40% in both separately is mandatory to pass the course and get Credit Certificate.
