Data is the backbone of any data analysis work done in the research process. It is a collection of unorganized facts and numbers from different sources. The sources of data can be different depending on what the research needs. Data analysis and interpretation are based solely on gathering different kinds of data from their sources. Researchers or analysts do the work of data collection to collect information
The sources of data are physical or digital places. Where information is stored in a data table, data object, or some other storage
format. As a researcher, you will be interested in a variety of ways of presenting sociological
phenomena. You may want to explore, define, explain, describe, or measure. Depending on your aims, you will be asking different questions
Hence, the data you will collect, and the sources of data that you will use, will be of
many different sorts. The methods of collecting the data are your sources of data. You can also use the term research instruments when referring to sources of data
