The course provides a comprehensive overview of the community psychology discipline. The course aims to foster understanding  about the role of psychologists within social settings and in community. Course caters to understanding of  emerging trends in community psychology. The course will provide an understanding of what community psychology is and how is it different when compared to other sub-disciplines of psychology and other social sciences.  There is a need to cater to the mental health challenges at the community level and the course will help develop the skills and knowledge for community mental health promotion and intervention which is the need of the hour. There is a requisite to offer a course in psychology where students’ ability to integrate theoretical frameworks into their future practices should be nurtured and the course offers the same.

Instructor bio

Juhi Deshmukh (Ph.D) is a professor at Department of Psychology, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. She has done her Ph.D. in clinical psychology and has cleared the NET. Dr. Deshmukh specializes in clinical psychology and her core areas of research lie in Neuropsychology, Cognitive Psychology and Positive Psychology.  She has published several research papers in national and international (Scopus Indexed) journals and has worked on several research projects in the field of Cognitive Psychology, Neuropsychology and Positive Psychology.  Dr. Deshmukh has coordinated and recorded several MOOC courses on the SWAYAM platform. Dr. Deshmukh is associated with the Pre -Litigation Council (Family Court) Maharashtra High Court as a member and counsellor. She has also been a member of Central and Forensic Science Laboratory, Technical and Evaluation Committee, Government of India. As a relationship counsellor Dr. Deshmukh has been closely associated with one of the most prestigious media groups of Maharashtra, Sakal Social Foundation, Sakal Media Group. She has conducted several workshops for various corporate offices, Govt. departments and educational institutes on mental health, psychological wellbeing, psychology and sustainability etc.

Course certificate

Dear Learners,
For getting the certificate and credits, you are required to attempt a minimum of 5 weekly assessments and appear for the end course proctored examination in person. The announcement of the proctored examination will be done separately in due course of time.

The Swayam Board considers marks for best of 5 assessments. You have to secure a minimum of 40% marks average in all the assessments to be eligible for the end course proctored examination. 

The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only). Announcement will be made when the registration form is open for registrations.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE
Average assignment score = 30% of average of best 5 assessments out of the total assessments given in the course.
Exam score = 70% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=12/30 AND EXAM SCORE >= 28/70. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.
