The proposed course titled “Rural Local Governance” is the accepted form of Indian government and it has left an indelible impression in the minds of rural people. It is continuously advancing and spreading over gradually to every person covering a substantial portion of development. The essence of this democratic concept the rural local governance is the revolutionary movement in Indian political circumstances. In this context one will need to understand the drives of Indian politics which covers all core areas namely Rural development and decentralization of power. It also focuses on the local self-government in India. The course facilitates students in understanding various rural problems namely poverty, health issues, illiteracy, unemployment, lack of people participation etc. It enhances students analyse to understand rural problem, policy making and rural development. It also conferring knowledge which aids to notice the vital aspects of sustainable development goals and sustains the significance of local self-government.

The course encourages and enhances the students who are the aspirants of becoming civil servants by providing in depth understanding of various rural development projects introduced by government where these concepts can contributes in the development of Indian democracy. The course is very much relevant to undergraduate students who are studying arts, and multi-disciplines.

Hence, the proposed course needed for students to make them strategically fit to embrace the future course of action.

Instructor bio

Dr. Chandrika C.S. is a distinguished academic currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the School of Business, Department of Political Science, Woxsen University, Hyderabad. Her decade-long career includes four years of postgraduate teaching and nine and a half years of focused research. In 2016, she earned her Ph.D. under the mentorship of Prof. Midatala Rani from the University of Mysore. She has also completed a Post-Doctoral degree (PDF) sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India, with research centered on "The Role of Gramsabha in Rural Development – A Comparative Study of Chickmagalore and Bellary Districts."

Dr. Chandrika's achievements go beyond academia. She was Internationally recognized and represented India among the 40 Eminent Scholars across the World and won appreciation from international scholars for illuminating the cultural, intellectual heritage, and anti-colonial struggles of India and Brazil in the Bicentennial of Brazilian Independence, an International Conference organized by the School of Advanced Science, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Hence she has received citation certificates from the Department of Studies in Political Science & Public Administration. She has also sponsored and organized a state-level seminar on Panchayati Raj Institutions in India. She has also been recognized for her involvement in conducting household-based surveys from the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER – 2018), The Large Citizen-led Education Survey in India. She has presented papers on critical issues such as "Revenge Porn and Violence against Women." Her scholarly contributions include numerous published articles on topics like local self-government, rural development, and education. In addition to her research, Dr. Chandrika has taught as a guest faculty at various institutions.

Course certificate

- *Internal Assessment*- Weekly assessments released in the course shall be considered for Internal Marks and will carry 30 percent for the Overall Result. Out of all weekly assignments, the best/top five scores will be considered for the final Internal Assessment marks.
- *End-term Assessment* - The final exam shall be conducted by NTA, and will carry 70 percent for the overall Result.
- All students who obtain 40% marks in the internal assessment and 40% marks in the end-term proctored exam separately will be eligible for the SWAYAM Credit Certificate.
