Indian Knowledge Systems is a compulsory/ Core paper that is studied by all students admitted to any degree course as per the NEP 2020. While English study materials are available for the students on this topic, the NEP gives preference to regional language as the medium of instruction. The course in Marathi is developed by experienced and trained faculty with a view to give a well-rounded understanding of what Indian Knowledge System stands for. This is a MARATHI course aimed at Introducing the Indian Knowledge Systems. As per the UGC policy document, the course includes some discussion about what knowledge is. This is followed by detailed modules about the contributions made by Indians in the fields of sciences, technologies and arts. As per the UGC guidelines, the course provides evidences of the contribution of Indians from the ancient times till the colonial times. It offers an evidence-based discussion of how Indians contributed to the knowledge making processes in pre-modern times.

.Dr. Shraddha Kumbhojkar

Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune
Shraddha Kumbhojkar is a Professor of History and heads the Department of History in Savitribai Phule Pune University. She obtained a Master’s degree in History and another Master’s in Sanskrit.  In 2002, she defended her doctoral thesis entitled ‘Nationalistic Interpretations of Ancient Indian Texts: Maharashtra during 1885-1929’. In her career as a university teacher spanning over 29 years, she has developed a research interest in Ancient and Modern Indian History, European Intellectual History, Historiography and Memory Studies. She has presented her research at the Universities in Oxford, Heidelberg, Moscow, Warsaw, Tokyo, Osaka and Groningen. Her research has been published in the form of monographs, research articles, newspaper articles and podcasts.

End-Term Examination:
Weightage: 70% of the final result, Minimum Passing Criteria: 40%

Internal Assessment:
Weightage: 30% of the final result, Minimum Passing Criteria: 40%

Calculation of IA Marks:
Out of all graded weekly assessments/assignments, the top 50% of assignments shall be considered for the calculation of the final Internal Assessment marks.

All students who obtain 40% marks in the internal assessment and 40% marks in the end-term proctored exam separately will be eligible for the SWAYAM Credit Certificate.
