By Naairah Qureshi   |   Department of Hindi, University of Kashmir
Learners enrolled: 86

This course is divided into a total of 13 weeks, during which we will explore a new dimension of the Editing Process and Presentation Design in depth. Subjects like editing and design hold a highly significant place in the fields of journalism, publishing, media writing, and all forms of communication. Editing is not merely about correcting language; it is an art and a technique for presenting ideas effectively and impactfully.

Throughout this journey, we will study topics such as news writing, editing, editorial processes, media language, stylistic composition, digital journalism, reporting, advertising, proofreading, page making, editing tools, and the evolving challenges of modern journalism, in a structured and sequential manner.

In this curriculum, we will deeply understand several key aspects related to communication and media—such as the process of news writing and editing, linguistic style, the role of the editor, and the changing forms of contemporary journalism. This course is not confined to textbooks; rather, it provides a beautiful opportunity to practically understand the interconnectedness of language, media, news, editing, and writing. We will also learn about the essential qualities of a good editor, how a reporter creates a strong report, and the key characteristics of editors and editorial boards.

In the field of media and publishing, the success of any content depends not only on its subject matter but also on its linguistic accuracy, structural balance, visual appeal, and authenticity. Editing refines the content, design enhances its attractiveness, and visuals make it powerful and lively. Therefore, it can rightly be said that “Writing is the soul, Editing is its intellect, and Design is its body.”

The balance and harmony of all these elements together create an excellent and effective piece of media content.
