This course
gives hands on learning experience in understanding the basics of MS excel
usage in the finance domain. The course delivery starts with the basic excel functions
like working with cells, formatting rows and columns, key finance functions like
sum, average, count, countif, countA, Max, min, rand and many more will be discussed
and solved using simple problems. The course navigates through the application
of time value of money concept like present value, future value and loan amortization.
Long term investment decision techniques like NPV, XNPV, IRR, XIRR, MIRR
functions are explored using case studies. Problems on risk analysis techniques
like simulation, sensitivity and scenario will be solved in different finance domains.
Analysis of the ideal capital structure decision using the WACC approach and
very importantly the forecasting of financial statements (income statement, balance
sheet and cash flow statement) will be constructed using different methods.

Dr. Premalatha K P is a professional educator
with a doctoral degree from university of Mysore holds a decade of teaching
experience in both UG and PG educational institutions. A goal driven person who
bagged gold medal for completing her Masters of Business Administration degree
with First Class Distinction in all the 4 semesters. She is an enthusiastic
faculty member worked for both commerce and management departments with her
domain expertise in finance. Premalatha has published many papers in Scopus, Wiley,
IEEE explore, UGC care and other peer reviewed journals and books. Presented
papers in various national and international level conferences and seminars.
She has actively organized and conducted student development activities, case
study cells, working paper series events and coordinated various finance
interest group activities at JAIN University. Currently working as assistant
professor at JAIN (deemed to be University) in the finance area her expertise
lies in financial management, corporate valuation, risk and derivatives
management and financial strategy. She delivers expert talks as a resource
person for faculty enrichment programs, workshops and training programs
organized by corporate and academic clients.
