Course Overview:
Business Ethics and Corporate Governance is a course that explores the principles, practices, and issues related to ethics and governance in the corporate world. The course aims to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of the moral and ethical dilemmas that organizations face, as well as the structures and mechanisms in place to ensure responsible and sustainable business practices. The ethical issues that arise in different business functions Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and other contemporary issues are also covered.
Effective corporate governance is crucial for maintaining investor confidence, attracting investment, and promoting long-term sustainability and success. It helps prevent corporate scandals, fraud, and mismanagement by establishing a framework of oversight and accountability. Different countries and organizations may have their own guidelines and regulations for corporate governance, but the fundamental principles remain consistent.
The course also includes Corporate Social Responsibility of the business and why corporations should be conscious of their social responsibility and analyse the new trends in the backdrop of various changes for sustainability and viability of corporations.

Dr. Sweta Banerjee, an accomplished MBA graduate from Guwahati University, M.Com. M.Phil. PhD holder in Stress Management and Job Satisfaction from Singhania University, Rajasthan. She has an experience of more than 28 years in teaching and research in reputed Universities in India and abroad. She is a recognised Ph. D. guide of Sri Balaji University, Pune and guiding 8 Ph.D. Scholars at present. Two scholars have been awarded Ph.D. under her guidance. A certified trainer from Thomas International for Personal Profile Analyst, Certified Transactional Analysis Trainer, Certified Transactional Analysis Practitioner, Associate Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming, certified in Positive Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Coursera), awarded the best teacher in HRM and OB from ICFAI University for 3 years. Presently she is a Professor of OB&HRM and Deputy Director at Balaji Institute of Management and Human Resources Development, Sri Balaji University, Pune. Published more than 30 research papers in National and International journals and also been awarded with the ‘Best Paper Award’ in International Conferences. Case study published by her is also listed in the Harvard Business Case Collection, USA. Wrote books on Organizational Behaviour, Artificial Intelligence and Role of HRM and Employee Efficiency. She is a Research Fellow with CITBA, James Cook University, Australia.
Dr. Leena Dam is a seasoned academician specializing in Finance, bringing 19 years of rich teaching and research experience to Balaji Institute of Management & HRD, Sri Balaji University, Pune. Her educational credentials include a PhD and a master’s in commerce, where she achieved the distinction of Gold Medallist. Additionally, she holds a PGDBA, ACS, B.Ed, and SLET, further enriching her academic profile. She is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, New Delhi.
Dr. Leena has a strong track record in both research and teaching. She has successfully guided 7 doctoral research scholars to completion and is currently supervising 3 more. Her research interests include Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Behavioural Finance and Corporate Social Responsibility. Her research contributions are widely recognized, with 42 published papers in esteemed journals such as Emerald Emerging Markets Case Studies, Business Perspective and Research, and Economic and Political Weekly. Till date she has published 10 teaching cases. Case study published by her is also listed in the Harvard Business Case Collection, USA. She has also co-authored 15 textbooks in the areas of accounting and finance. In 2024 she has also coordinated ATAL FDP on ‘Financial Modelling – A Tool for Decision Making’.
Given that this is a non-credit course, it is important to note that there will be no final examination. Consequently, learners will not receive a certificate upon completion of the course. This structure aligns with the academic nature of the program, emphasizing the absence of a formal assessment and certification process for non-credit courses.
