Course Overview:

 

The efficient and effective planning and implementation of major projects, especially in hi-tech sectors, is becoming increasingly complex and critical. The course “Introduction to Project Management Principles and Practices” is aimed at providing both basic and some advanced exposure to PM, so as to enable the manager of tomorrow to complete sophisticated projects within the constraints of capital, time, and other resources. Upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to identify key characteristics of a project, identify project objectives, define roles and responsibilities of key project members, identify resources needed, and determine project schedules and budgets. The course will also help the budding project managers to effectively manage project risks, and understand the importance of effective communications.

 

Using the 10 knowledge areas of PMBoK, the course covers various aspects of project management:

 

  • Project initiation
  • Project planning and scheduling
  • Project monitoring and control
  • Project termination

 

The course will be delivered through video/2D /3D / Animation lectures that include:

 

  • Introduction to project management

  • Software project management

 

Course Objective:

 

  • To understand the concepts of project definition, life cycle, and systems approach;
  • To develop competency in project scoping, work definition, and work breakdown structure (WBS);
  • To handle the complex tasks of time estimation and project scheduling, including PERT and CPM;
  • To develop competencies in project costing, budgeting, and financial appraisal;
  • Identify and Analyse factors for successful Projects, as well as reasons for failure in the context of effective Risk Management.

 

The participants will learn the skills and knowledge needed to effectively manage the project and meet its objectives. The course covers all the 10 knowledge areas of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) by Project Management Institute, USA.

Dr. Nimisha Singh

Quality Council of India
Dr. Nimisha Singh is the faculty member of Business Analytics and Information Systems at Bennett University. She has over 16 years of teaching and research experience. Before joining Bennett University, she taught at Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), and Birla Institute of Management Technology. She has taught at universities in Austria, France, and Poland, using mobility grants. Her areas of interest for teaching and research are project management, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital transformation and design thinking. She has published papers in reputed national and international journals and presented papers at national and international conferences. She is the editorial board member of the Journal of Global Information Technology and Management and sub-editor of two books published by Bloomsbury. She has developed content and recorded videos on project management for the Quality Council of India and the Karmayogi Bharat Portal, Government of India. She has organized and conducted training programs for participants from IOCL, NTPC, FH Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences (Austria) and Atal Incubation Centre. She has been invited as a speaker by international bodies- EFMD, and AODN. She received recognition by AACSB in 2021 for “commitment to volunteer and support AACSB in improving the quality of business education around the world”.
