ABOUT THE COURSE:
Transnational Competition Law course provides comprehensive study of the need and importance of extra-territorial application of competition law. It gives an elaborative understanding of the evolution and transnational application of competition law by way of bilateral as well multilateral cooperation among competition authorities. It also helps in having a wholesome idea about international cooperation taking place within various international organizations, as well as networks based on binding international agreements and various informal networks. It also provides an in-depth knowledge of various soft as well as binding international treaties. The competition cooperation authorities among national jurisdictions are also taken care within transnational competition networks. The course is designed for lucid understanding of extra-territorial application and transnational cooperation within the mandate of Section 32 of Competition Act, 2002. It also helps in understanding of the bilateral as well as multilateral cooperation initiatives undertaken by the Competition Commission of India and their working mechanism in achieving international trade. This course will be helpful for the researchers, academicians and students to have advanced knowledge in the fields of intellectual property rights, competition law, international trade law and global corporate governance.

Aligarh Muslim University
Prof. M. Z.M. Nomani specializes in Intellectual Property Rights & Competition Law since last 29 years. His prime interest lies in probing anti-trust and competition laws in transnational and extra –territorial context to spawn economic growth in India. He has successfully collaborated World Bank & Ministry of Environment & Forests Capacity Building Project on Environmental Law in India [Law Component] during 1998-2003. He has undertaken University Grants Commission Major Research Projects on Review of Legal and Institutional Mechanism for the Protection of Wetland in India during 2009-2011.

The major outcome of the project significantly augured reform and enactment of National Wetland Rule, 2010. He has also completed Indian Council for Social Science Research Major Research Projects on Socio-Economic Impact of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on the Land Owners and Local Inhabitants of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand States of India whose recommendations are reflected in Land Acquisition and Compensation Law in 2013-14.

The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: 25 October 2024 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course.

Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of AMU and INI.

Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
