ABOUT THE COURSE:
An animal waste management plan consists of information about manure production, storage, and use. Manure can be disposed off site. All manure remaining on the farm should be spread according to a plan that distributes nutrients in manure on land according to the uptake rate of the various crops or grasses on the farm.Animal Waste Management Systems are designed for the proper handling, storage, and utilization of wastes generated from animal confinement operations and include a means of collecting, scraping, or washing wastes from confinement areas into appropriate waste storage structures. Lagoons, ponds, or steel or concrete tanks are common structures used for the treatment and/or storage of liquid wastes while storage sheds or pits are used to store solid wastes. Controlling runoff from roofs, feedlots, and ""loafing"" areas are also part of these systems. Adequate storage ensures wastes are only applied when crops can use the accompanying nutrients and soil and weather conditions are appropriate. The Value added products from livestock waste can be created by simple procedures, these products include Fertilizers, FYM, Gum, Marshmallows, Soap and detergents, Biofuel, Biogas, Biodiesel, Fireworks, Perfumes, Vermicompost, Panchgavya, etc. Therefore, waste management plan must be followed by every livestock owner and farmer to increase their profits and utilize the waste in an efficient way. This will not only reduce the pollution (air, water, soil etc.) but also provide an extra source of income. Hence a win-win situation for the farmers and the nation.
