ABOUT THE COURSE:
This online course will provide an understanding of the functions and operations of the financial markets and institutions and its role in the economic development. It also introduces participants to the fundamentals of economics & financial markets that are in the toolkit of policy makers. These tools are used to study the characteristics of various financial instruments and their pricing, analyze portfolio of assets, gaining familiarity with the basics of risk management.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: 10+2 pass candidates (from any stream or subject) or equivalent can apply to join this course “Fundamentals of Economics and Financial Markets”. Candidates appearing or appeared in qualifying exams (i.e.10+2) may also apply.Students pursuing degree or diploma courses from any college,institute or university may also apply. Recent graduates from various degree courses may also be considered for taking admission.

Prof. Parul Jain

Dr. Parul Jain is currently working as Assistant Professor at Department of Economics, DAV PG College, Varanasi.( affiliated to Banaras Hindu University) . She has obtained her Ph. D from the Department of Economics, BHU. She has published more than 30 papers in leading national and International journals which include INTERTAX, Asia Pacific Tax Bulletin, Indian Journal Of Public Administration, Indian Economic Journal, etc. She has two books and has four chapters published to her credit . Two Research Projects (one from ICSSR entitled Four Years of Goods and Services Tax: The Road Ahead and other from Gandhian Centre , DAV PG College on the topic of “Analyzing the Economic Impact of Rejuvenation of Kashi Vishwanath Dham” has been conducted by her. Her area of teaching and research include Public Economics, Public Finance and Macroeconomics. She has an experience of over 15 years in the field of academics. She is life member of Indian Economic Association, Uttar Pradesh Uttarakhand Economic Association (UPUEA) and Bhartiya Arthik Sodh Sansthan. Along with academics, she has been coordinator IQAC and member of various committees like fixation of 7 th CPC, Finance Committee, Grievance Cell, etc of the college.

Dr. Anand Singh is currently working as Assistant Professor at Department of Commerce, DAV PG College, Varanasi. He obtained his Ph. D from the Faculty of Commerce, BHU. He has published more than 30 papers in leading national and International journals which include Indian Journal of Finance, Professional Banker, ICFAI reader, etc He has undertaken an ICSSR funded project entitled “A study on impact of recent mergers on financial performance of commercial bank of India”. His area of teaching and research include financial markets & institutions and banking. He has an experience of over 13 years in the field of academics. He has been member of All India Commerce Conference and Hermeneutics


Prof. Mayank Kumar Singh

Dr. Mayank Kumar Singh is currently working as Associate Professor at Department of Economics, DAV PG College, Varanasi. He obtained his Ph. D from the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social sciences, BHU. He has published more than 20 papers in leading national and International journals which include Indian Journal of Economics, Journal of Economics – Ravindra Bharti University etc. His area of teaching and research include Mathematical Economics & Econometrics. He has an experience of over 13 years in the field of academics. He has been life member of Indian Economic Association & UPUEA.

Course certificate

The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: April 25, 2025 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.

The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

Please note that assignments encompass all types (including quizzes, programming tasks, and essay submissions) available in the specific week.

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of INI and BHU .

Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
