ABOUT THE COURSE:
The objective of this course is to present a comprehensive description of the concept of stress, its potential causes and its impacts on the physiological, psychological, social and occupational life of people. The idea of stress has been discussed from different theoretical perspectives viz., stimulus-response, transactional and cognitive. Factors responsible for individual differences in the perception of and reaction toward stress are also dealt with. Specific types of stress; scholastic and occupational stress are given special attention to ensure the relevance of the course for the learners. Finally, the course presents a bouquet of coping and life skills to manage stress effectively. After successful completion of the course the learners will be able to practice appraisal-focused, emotion-focused and problem-focused strategies to cope with stress. Learners will also understand the role of Yoga and meditation, proper diet and sleep, time management, effective communication, overcoming procrastination and emotion regulation in avoiding and reducing stress in daily life.

Dr. Shubhra Sinha

Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya
Dr. Shubhra Sinha, is an Associate Professor of Psychology in Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Varanasi, a college admitted to the privileges of Banaras Hindu University. She has been a permanent faculty there since 2009. She has more than 15 years of experience teaching different undergraduate and post-graduate teaching experience. She has successfully collaborated in a cross-cultural research project and has published five chapters in edited books and more than 15 research papers in various UGC CARE listed and Scopus-indexed journals. She also has two Ph.D. theses in her credit as sole supervisor. In addition to that she bears the responsibility of the section-in charge of the Psychology Department. Her active participation as in charge/member in the various committees of the college including the Guidance and Counselling Cell has contributed to her deep understanding of students’ problems and their psychological impact. She has closely observed the gap between the required social skills and those available in the behavioural repertoire of the students. These experiences have led her to design a course that can ease the personal and scholastic stress of students and enhance their scholastic achievements as well as overall well-being.

Course certificate

The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: 25 October 2025 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.

The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

Please note that assignments encompass all types (including quizzes, programming tasks, and essay submissions) available in the specific week.

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup. It will have the logos of INI and BHU.

Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
