ABOUT THE COURSE:
प्रस्तुत पाठ्यक्रम सन्धि के परिचयात्मक अध्ययन को समर्पित है जिसमें आचार्यवरदराजकृत लघुसिद्धान्तकौमुदी में परिगणित स्वर, व्यञ्जन एवं विसर्ग सन्धि के सूत्रों को समाविष्ट किया गया है | यह पाठ्यक्रम स्नातकस्तर के साथ ही सन्धिज्ञान हेतु इच्छुक अध्येताओं के लिये है जिसमें सन्धि के साथ तदनुकूल प्रसङ्गों में काशिका, परिभाषेन्दुशेखर आदि में वर्णित शास्त्रीय विषयों को भी व्याख्यानों में पृथक् रूप से समाहित किया गया है जिस कारण अध्येता अपनी रुचि के अनुसार सन्धि का प्राथमिक अथवा किञ्चित् प्रौढ ज्ञान, दोनों अथवा केवल प्राथमिक ज्ञान भी प्राप्त कर सकता है | इसके साथ ही इसमें अभ्यास पर विशेष ध्यान दिया गया है एवम् एक सम्पूर्ण सप्ताह विभिन्न शास्त्रीयग्रन्थों में सन्धि के उदाहरणों को लेकर निर्मित है जो विभिन्न प्रतियोगी परीक्षाओं हेतु भी अपनी उपयोगिता सिद्ध करता है | 
This course is designed to cater the need of the undergraduate students with Sanskrit as a subject. It deals with the basic concept of sandhi-s (euphonic combinations) based on the aphorisms given by Maharsi Panini with elucidation of their derivative method and examples commonly used in literature and language. The Sandhi-s have been taken from Acharya Varadaraja’s Laghusiddhantkaumdi and it gives an overview of the language structure within the domain of euphonic combinations. This course may also be beneficial to the aspirants of various competitive examinations and the readers enthusiast to read and understand texts written in Sanskrit.

Dr. Brihaspati Bhattacharya

Vasanta College for Women
Dr. Brihaspati Bhattacharya is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sanskrit, Vasanta College for Women (Admitted to the privileges of B.H.U.), Rajghat Fort, Varanasi. He received his graduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree from Banaras Hindu University.

His research area primarily focuses on the linguistic approach of Sanskrit Vyakarana, interdisciplinary approaches of Sanskrit literature and the concept of storytelling (nitishastra with special reference to Panchatantra and Hitopdesha) in Sanskrit treatise. He has more than 20 publications in the form of book chapters and various research articles in Peer-reviewed, UGC-care and Scopus-listed journals and is also pursuing a research programme funded by ICSSR in collaboration.

Course certificate

The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
Date and Time of Exams: April 25, 2025 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE

Average assignment score = 25% of average of best 8 assignments out of the total 12 assignments given in the course.
Exam score = 75% of the proctored certification exam score out of 100

Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score

Please note that assignments encompass all types (including quizzes, programming tasks, and essay submissions) available in the specific week.

YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE ONLY IF AVERAGE ASSIGNMENT SCORE >=10/25 AND EXAM SCORE >= 30/75. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >= 40/100.

Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of INI and BHU.

Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
