Welcome to the revised Physics course of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The Physics course is now divided into eight modules comprising thirty lessons on different themes. These eight modules contain predominantly the subject matter of mechanics, electricity, light and other areas of physics and represent the base knowledge which is required to progress into more advanced areas for developing appreciation for the fact that physics plays a significant role in most situations.
The module VIII contains application oriented specific fields like semiconductors, electronics and communication.
The Physics course has three parts. Parts 1 and 2 have theoretical part and Part 3 has laboratory work. The part 1 comprises four modules having seven lessons of module I on Motion, Force and Energy, two lessons of Module II on Mechanics of Solids and Fluids, three lessons of Module III on Thermal Physics and two lessons of Module IV on Oscillations and Waves. The second part comprises other four modules having five lessons of module V on Electricity and Magnetism, four lessons of module VI on Optics and Optical Instruments, four lessons of module VII on Atoms and Nuclei and three lessons of module VIII on Semiconductor Devices and Communication.

Mr. Aashish Sodhi works as an Academic Officer (Science) in National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), an autonomous organization under Ministry of education, Government of India. He has done Post Graduation in Physics, B.Ed. and has a rich teaching experience. Before joining NIOS as an Academic Officer, he has worked as PGT Physics in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Army Public School and has teaching experience of more than 6 years. While being in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, he has participated in many training programmes and workshops and he has to his credit, a proven academic record of results in Board examinations. Currently he is associated in the content development of Science and Mathematics courses in Academic courses of NIOS
For Senior Secondary Level Passing
Certificate
1. In order to obtain Senior Secondary (12th) passing certificate from NIOS, the learners are required to
enroll in minimum five subjects including one or maximum two languages on SWAYAM. For examination
and certification the learners must also enroll with NIOS
.
2. The admission in NIOS is done through online mode only. The learner can visit the official website of
NIOS i.e., www.nios.ac.in or www.sdmis.nios.ac.in . The learner can also visit the Regional Centre or
nearest AI (study Centre) or designated Common Service Centre (CSC), the list of which is available on
the website and take help for online admission in NIOS.
