Designation: Academic Officer , NIOS.
Ms. Umang Chauhan is an Academic Officer (Home
Science) at the National Institute of Open Schooling. Previously, she served as
an Assistant Professor in the Department of Development Communication and
Extension at Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi. Her academic and research
interests revolve around Communication for Social Change, Gender Studies, and
Extension work.
She has further expanded her expertise through
courses at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), including
podcasting and audio media, and smartphone documentary production.
Additionally, she holds UNESCO MOOC certification in Living Heritage and
Sustainable Development. She also worked on the Indira Gandhi National Centre
for the Arts (IGNCA) Ganga project, seeking to understand people's
perceptions of the river Ganga.
She has collaborated with international universities, specifically Humboldt State University and Michigan State University. Her academic qualifications include M.Sc. in Development Communication & Extension, B.Ed, B.Sc. (Hons) in Home Science, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Planning and Development. She is also a qualified recipient of NTA UGC NET JRF and a Lifetime Member of the Home Science Association of India.
