CIT-001: Fundamentals of Computer Systems

This course mainly deals with basic working technology and concepts of Computer Systems which includes hardware, software, basics of problem solving and communication networks. Also this course introduce about information security.
This course provides basic understanding about working of a personal computer, introduction to different software tools, uses of different devices including storage devices and I/O devices. The concepts of problem solving and dealing with the development of logic for problem solving. Elementary programming concepts using C language are also introduced in this course. Also various aspects of network communication, understand the concept of networking devices are explained in the course along with an exposure to software security concerns and software vulnerabilities. Overall this course is a mini package of the different ICT tools and technologies used in day to day life.

    M. P. Mishra is currently working as Associate Professor in School of Computer and Information Sciences, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi India. He has more than 19 years of experience in teaching and academic research. He has acquired B.Sc.(Hons) in Computer Science in 1996 & M.Sc.(Computer Science ) in 1998, from Banaras Hindu University, and M.Tech( Computer Science and Technology) in 2003 from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has worked as Assistant Professor in IMT Ghaziabad for one year before joining IGNOU in January 2004. He is Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) and Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD). He was Awarded University Silver Medal for Best Research Paper in April 2013 by IGNOU. He got Certificate of Competence, awarded by IIT Kanpur and COL for “Mobile for Development, a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for Development”, in December 2013. Also he received Certificate of Participation with Distinction awarded by IIT Kanpur, Commonwealth of Learning (COL), and Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP), India for online participation in MOOC on MOOC, a Massive Open Online Course for Development, offered during 5th September 2014 to 12th October 2014. His area of interests includes object oriented technologies and enterprise applications, mobile and wireless communication and e-Learning. He has 35 publications which includes publications in International Journals, proceedings of International / National conferences and Chapters in Books.
