Prof. Deeksha Kapur

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

Prof. Deeksha Kapur is an eminent Nutritionist, Professor in the Discipline of Nutritional Sciences, School of Continuing Education, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. She has the distinction of setting up the Discipline of Nutritional Sciences at IGNOU. She is engaged as Adjunct Professor at Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Department of Allied Hospitality Studies and Department of Culinary Arts, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Karnataka, India.

Prof. Kapur has contributed extensively in designing, developing and implementing niche programmes geared towards capacity building, vocational, skill and professional development of individuals in the area of nutrition and dietetics. She specializes in development of self learning material and use of multi-media and e-learning resources in teaching learning of nutrition. Prof. Kapur is the Programme Coordinator for Ph.D in Food and Nutrition, Master's Degree programme in Dietetics and Food Service Management, Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Pediatric Nutrition, Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education, Certificate Programme in Food and Nutrition, Certificate Programme in Nutrition and Child Care and Certificate Programme in Food Safety at IGNOU.

Prof. Kapur has provided technical and resource support to other National and Non-Government Institutions for curriculum design development, research activities, training programmes, construction of tools, educational material in the area of nutrition and dietetics. She is a Certified Trainer and Evaluator of Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) and has many training programmes to her credit.

Prof. Kapur has extensive research experience and has been awarded research projects funded by UNICEF, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI, Distance Education Council (DEC). She is a recognized PhD guide. Her research interests include maternal and child nutrition, public health and nutrition, nutrition and non communicable diseases, clinical nutrition, sports nutrition, food safety and quality control, institutional food administration.

Prof. Kapur has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences and has several publications in peer reviewed journals to her credit. She has authored chapters for recently introduced Nutrition and Dietetics course at senior secondary level for CBSE. She is on the advisory and editorial board of International journals.

Prof. Kapur has membership of National level committees and statutory bodies at IGNOU and other Universities.
