Instructor bio

Dr. Rukshana Zaman

Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi

Rukshana Zaman teaches anthropology at Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, India. Within the ambit of Social Anthropology, her research interests are ethnicity, identity, ethnic conflicts, social institutions, and anthropology of performance. She has presented her work in national and international forums, published her research work in many journals, and contributed chapters in books.

 Rukshana was a Charles Wallace Fellow in Social Anthropology (2018-19), affiliated to Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Odissi Dance and was a recipient of the President’s Award for her service as a Girl Guide. Rukshana also likes to pen her thoughts and express her views through her poems.
