By Dr. Tanushree Chatterjee and Dr. R. G. Brajesh   |   Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU), Bhilai
Learners enrolled: 710

In today’s world, Microbes plays an important role in drug discovery and pharmaceutical industries. Microbes used in genetic engineering can be used for the manufacturing of drugs, and vaccines for various fatal diseases.

Using this technique, the resistance varieties of crops can be developed. The high yielding varieties of seeds and crops with short term cultivable period also can be produced. Microbes can also be used for controlling various environmental factors like air, water, and soil pollution. In waste management, this plays a major role. Various hormones, proteins, interferons, antibodies, and other therapeutics can be produced by introducing the organism to rDNA.
