The appearance of e-commerce is shifting in a present scenario towards the necessity and requisite. Educational Institutions like Indira Gandhi National Open University which is pioneer in self paced learning and technology enabled learning.

The distinguish corporate houses are trying to educate and train learners, students and employees in e-commerce applications and technology, so that it becomes part and parcel in their day-to-day learning and usages.  Since  e-commerce  is  in  a  nascent  stage  and  varying  so  rapidly, organizations face numerous challenges, and there are prospects in developing curricula for e-commerce in a big way.

The world is experiencing speedy changes in the knowledge landscape. With various dramatic scientific and technological advances, such as the rise of big data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, many unskilled jobs worldwide may be taken over by machine and robots and in present scenario collaborative effort of Robots and Human known as Cobots.

Keeping in mind framework  of  National  Education  Policy  (NEP),  School  of   Management Studies had initiated a Skill Enhancement course to look closely into the development  of  curricula and  teaching methods  for E-commerce processes, practices,  and  technologies  with  an  intention  to  imbibe  skills  among  its students and youth, with a greater emphasis on the development of employment opportunities and research activities.

BCOS-184 is one of the Skill Enhancement (4 credits) elective courses that falls under 4th Semester of B.Com (G) programme offered under CBCS scheme. The main objective of this course is to familiarize the learners with the knowledge and understanding of E-commerce. This course by and large makes learners acquainted with the contemporary ways of doing business and emphasizes more on internet based business and their set-up. The entire 15 units have been bifurcated into 5 blocks. Course Credit: 04

Prof. Subodh Kesharwani

Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi
Prof. (Dr.) Subodh Kesharwani is an academician with a bronze medal in his Post Graduate. He earned a Doctorate in ERP System in 2002 from Allahabad Central University.  He is one of the researchers who had concentrated his research on Total Cost of Ownership [TCO] & Critically evaluated ERP vendors including SAP- AG, Germany
Dr. Kesharwani is presently a Full Professor in  School of Management Studies from 2019 onwards with a total 22 years of hardcore teaching and research in Information System, Technology Enabled learning and its linkages with various domains of management at Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi
He is presently an expert in various burgeoning areas and had delivered a talk as a trainer on MOOCs, Team Building, E-commerce, Technology Enabled Learning, E-resource, Technology Uses in research, Block chain, Internet of Thing, Enterprise Information System, Free & Open Source Software, etc.
Dr. Subodh had developed and coordinated a program Certificate in Business Skills (CBS) in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF), India and Commonwealth of Learning, Vancouver, Canada which provides training to the trainers at IGNOU. He is presently a program coordinator of IGNOU-ICWAI alliance too. On the other hand B.Com (Online) is one of the Bachelor program launched virtually under his coordination too.
 
He is also a founder Editor-in-Chief of a peer reviewed refereed journal entitled “Global Journal of Enterprise Information System [GJEIS] from 2009 onwards, which has completed its 13 years term and published 50 issues till date both in printable and virtual format at a portal www.gjeis.com. The Journal GJEIS is equipped with DOI from Crossref USA and listed in almost 50 directories in the world with an impact factor of 1.90.
 
Dr. Kesharwani had participated as a debater in diverse TV shows and participates in Interactive Radio Counseling including Gyanvani and Gyandasrshan.
Dr. Kesharwani SWAYAM, which is an initiative by Government of India, an instrument for self-actualization providing opportunities for a life-long learning through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) had developed three standalone courses  entitled, MCO-3: Research Methodology & Statistical analysis, BCOS-183: Computer Application In Business & BCOS-184: E-commerce under SWAYAM which is a programme initiated by Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of Education Policy viz., access, equity and quality.
 
He had written a Book entitled “Enterprise Information Systems-Contemporary Trends And Issues” in a co-authorship with Prof. David L. Olson (University of Nebraska, USA. which was published by World Scientific, USA. https://www.worldscientific.com/worldscibooks/10.1142/7287  2009

He had another text book on ERP systems which caters a B.Tech VI Semester CS and IT Students. He had developed educational contents for various academic institutions such as Institute of Chartered Accountancy, IGNOU and contributed articles for various journals/ Magazines, etc. He had chaired a good number of technical sessions at various conferences & seminars nationally and globally.
 
Dr. Kesharwani had been awarded “IT Innovation & Excellence Award 2012” in the field of ERP solutions, by KRDWG's Selection Committee at IIT Delhi. He is in the panel of the Steering Committee of the International Journal of Computing and e-Systems, TIGERA-USA.  He was in the key panel of a round-table workshop conducted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in Association with Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs to streamline “Corporate Data Management and Governance”.  He was one of the resource persons who share the experience with the 12 different ITEC countries participants who had attended International MDP.
