BES 123: Teaching and Learning

The course “Learning and Teaching” focuses on developing an understanding of psychological and socio-cultural perspective of learning, learning theories and factors facilitating learning. This course is facilitating trainee teachers in identifying appropriate learning strategies for facilitating construction of knowledge and also helping them reflect on their role as an innovator and action researcher. The course will be offered in 16 weeks (04 months). e-text, videos and discussion forum will be essential part. Few live sessions will also be organized in synchronous mode for interaction and resolving the doubt. There will be a compulsory weekly quiz. Quiz/assignment and term-end examination will be part of formal assessment for the course.

Instructor bio

Dr. Anjuli Suhane

Indira Gandhi National Open University

Dr. Anjuli Suhane works in Indira Gandhi National Open University in the School of Education at  the capacity of Assistant Professor. Presently she is coordinating Certificate in Guidance (CIG)  Programme and various courses of different programmes i.e. Pedagogy of Mathematics(B.Ed),  Pedagogy of Science (B.Ed.) ,Learning and Teaching (B.Ed.) and Education as a Practice (B.A.  General) .  

Dr. Anjuli Suhane holds a Masters in Physics from Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar; M.Ed.  and Ph.D. (Education) from Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal and PGDEL from IGNOU, New  Delhi. She started her career in 2001 as a teacher-educator in the conventional teaching-learning  institute. From 2006, she taught at Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal for five years and has  been associated with IGNOU since July 2012. 

In addition to publishing many papers in various journals, she has participated and acted as a  resource person in various seminars and workshops. She also contributed various units in self learning materials of different programmes of School of Education, IGNOU. Her areas of interest  are Environmental Education, Science Education, Mathematics Education , Educational  Measurement and Evaluation and Educational Statistics.


Course certificate

This a four (04) credit course. In order to obtain the course completion certificate
  • You have to attempt all the weekly quizzes.
  • A terminal quiz will given to at the end of the course, This all will contribute to the 30% as internal continuous assessment part of the course.
  • A term-end examination (TEE) will be conducted by the appropriate agency (at present it is National Testing Agency, NTA), which will contribute to 70% weightage in total assessment.
