Industrial Automation and Drives

By Prof. Sanjay Agrawal and Mr Rahul Baghel   |   Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai
Learners enrolled: 1966
Industrial automation involves using control systems like PLCs and SCADA to manage processes and machinery in industries, replacing human involvement. It aims to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety, while reducing costs and increasing productivity. Drives are devices used to control the speed and torque of electric motors in automation systems. AC drives control AC motors by varying frequency and voltage, while DC drives control DC motors by varying voltage. These drives play a crucial role in industrial automation by enabling precise control over motor speed and torque. Basic electrical principles and components are fundamental to understanding and implementing industrial automation systems.
