This course introduces the basic managerial functions, principles and techniques and their application in Library and Information Centres. The concepts like Total Quality Management and Change management are also discussed with the explanation of their implementation in libraries and information centres.

The basic objective of this course is to apprise the learners with routines and functions of the libraries. Aspects like disaster management, human resource management and financial management are also discussed in detail.

After completing this course you will be able to smoothly manage the functioning of a library.

Dr. Ashok Kumar is Assistant Professor of Library and Information Science in the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). He holds B.Sc., BLISc, MLISc. PGDCA, PGDDLDM, Ph.D. (LIS). He has also successfully completed various online courses i.e. Academic Writing, Research Ethics, OER for Empowering Teachers, Emerging Trends and Technologies in Library and Information Services Curriculum, Curriculum Design and e - Content Development. He has about 14 years of experience in various capacities in the institutions of Higher Education. His area of interests includes: Management of Library and Information Centers, ICT Application in Libraries, e- Learning, Quality, and Ranking of Institutions, etc.
