Dr. Vibhuti Gaur

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

A doctorate from Centre for English Studies, JNU in Folk Literature and Translation Studies in Postcolonial Perspectives, Dr Gaur has been a gold Medalist throughout her academic career. Deeply privileged to study and teach in premier universities like JNU, DU, PU she had been a part of diverse administrative assignments while in DU.


Her passion to make academia Indo-centric has engaged her at various levels. She has proposed an introduction of a new course in IGNOU titled" Indian Literary Theory and Criticism". She lectures extensively especially in JNU HRDC and CPDHE-DU on her areas of interest and research. She has appeared on TV and radio on many occasions.She works for women empowerment and was the 1st convenor of Savitribai Phule Memorial lecture, Nehru Memorial, Delhi.  Her book titled 'Indian Perspective on Women' is under publication. She has been widely published in various international journals and edited books. 

She has organized, participated, presented papers and chaired sessions in various national and international seminars, conferences and workshops. Her areas of interest include Literary Theory, Postcolonial Studies, Diaspora Studies, South Asian Studies, Gender Studies, Oral Narratives, Film Studies, Indian Knowledge and Critical Traditions, Indian Classical Literatures. She has taught subjects like Literary Theory, Postcolonial Studies, Indian Diaspora, Translation Studies, British Romantic Literature, British 18th Century for almost 15 years now.
