The Course offers an introduction to the study of childhood, child development and adolescence. It aims to make you think effectively about the developmental process of the child and the interplay of poverty, class and gender in child development. This Course will widen your knowledge about child development; stimulate you to know more about the debates in childhood and adolescence, and the importance of understanding childhood and adolescence in the teaching-learning process. The course will be offered for 12 weeks that includes e-text, videos and discussion forum. There will be weekly quiz and term-end examination for assessment of this Course.

Dr. Elizabeth Kuruvilla

Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi

Dr. Elizabeth Kuruvilla enjoys the distinction of having her Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. degrees from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. Presently, she is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education, IGNOU, New Delhi. In addition to publishing many papers in various journals, she has participated and acted as a resource person in various seminars and workshops. She also contributed various units in self-learning materials of different programmes of School of Education, IGNOU. Her areas of specialization are educational psychology, social science, teacher education, educational management and administration, and distance education.

The online registration form has to be filled, and the certification exam fee needs to be paid.


CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE


30 Marks will be allocated for Internal Assessment (Final Quiz- Mandatory) which will be available at the end of the course and 70 Marks will be allocated for end term proctored examination.


A  minimum of 40% passing marks (i.e. at-least 12 marks in Internal Assessment (Final Quiz- Mandatory) & 28 Marks in external proctored examination) will be required for being eligible for SWAYAM Certificate.
