Designed with a pragmatic orientation, this Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Creative Writing intends to cultivate and enhance proficiency in diverse aspects of creative writing including writing, editing and publishing. The Course delves deeply into the workings of different writing techniques, key concepts exclusive to writing each of the genres of poetry, fiction, drama, non-fiction, and life writing. The curriculum will encompass a wide spectrum of writing such as writing for media, scriptwriting and writing for digital platforms apart from providing an understanding of the various kinds of creative literatures like travel writing, writing for children and so on. Notably, the primary focus is on fostering adeptness in writing, and thus the course will address various facets of the craft including narrative structures, creating characters, writing dialogues, etc. among others. This Course seeks to offer a myriad of benefits, ranging from personal enrichment and self-expression to professional development and cultural appreciation.

Dr. Chayanika Roy is an Assistant Professor, Discipline of English, at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, Guwahati, Assam, India. She pursued her M.Phil. degree and PhD from Gauhati University. With over a decade of experience in distance and open education, she has coordinated Undergraduate, Diploma and Bachelor Preparatory programmes at the University. Her research articles has been published in several national and international CARE-listed journals, and her academic interests span contemporary fiction, Indian writing in English, and open and distance learning.

The online registration form has to be filled, and the certification exam fee needs to be paid.
CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE
30 Marks will be allocated for Internal Assessment (Final Quiz- Mandatory) which will be available at the end of the course and 70 Marks will be allocated for end term proctored examination.
A minimum of 40% passing marks (i.e. at-least 12 marks in Internal Assessment (Final Quiz- Mandatory) & 28 Marks in external proctored examination) will be required for being eligible for SWAYAM Certificate.
