This course has equal relevance for the learners of Psychology and Social Work also. Both these disciplines deal with components of human personalities, human nature and needs, human abilities, behaviour and problems. Both disciplines have their own ways of tackling human problems, whether physical, mental, or social.

Dr. Seema Rani

Indira Gandhi National Open University

Dr. Seema Rani has been working as an Assistant Professor in School of Social Work, IGNOU since 2021. Presently, she is course coordinator for one course BSW-124 on SWAYAM and another course under development title ‘Life Skills Education’. She is coordinator for Live Teleconference Session, EMPC, IGNOU.

Dr. Seema Rani holds Ph.D. in Social Work from Delhi School of Social Work, University of Delhi. She has worked as Assistant Professor at Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, University of Delhi on Ad hoc and Guest basis for 4 years. She was a recipient of Junior and Senior Research Fellowship from UGC between 2009and 2014. She has completed her B.A in Social Work from Aditi Mahavidyalaya, University of Delhi and M.A. in Social Work from Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Viswvidyalaya, Madhya Pradesh. She has been a recipient of attending two weeks fully funded workshop organized by Brown International Advanced Research Institute, Watson Institute, Brown University, Rhode Island, USA on ‘Social Entrepreneurship with in Health and Humanitarian Innovation, during June 1st-16th 2018. Her areas of interest are HIV/AIDS, Counselling, Life Skills, Public Health, Disability, Women and Children. She has presented paper in several national and international seminars/conferences. She has published research articles in national and international journals. She is a life time member of National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI) since 2009. She has been invited as an expert and panelist in seminars and conferences.

She has, as a subject expert coordinated the national level Workshop on Syllabus Designing of Social Work under New Learning Outcomes-based Curriculum Framework (LOCF) – Reg. as per NEP 2020 in (2024-2025) conducted by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.

She has 4 years of field experience to work with two international organizations, PCI/India and AIDS Healthcare Foundation as a Counsellor. She has also worked as Child Development Project Officer in ICDS (Integrated Child Development Scheme), Delhi Government.

The online registration form has to be filled, and the certification exam fee needs to be paid.


CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE


30 Marks will be allocated for Internal Assessment (Final Quiz- Mandatory) which will be available at the end of the course and 70 Marks will be allocated for end term proctored examination.


A  minimum of 40% passing marks (i.e. at-least 12 marks in Internal Assessment (Final Quiz- Mandatory) & 28 Marks in external proctored examination) will be required for being eligible for SWAYAM Certificate.
