This is a foundation course for potential and practicing teachers. Learning is a term, which we use most commonly. Infants and children learn day to day activities and skills, the desirable ways of behavior and communication skills, which are important for their everyday living. In this process their elder brothers and sisters, parents  and other adults in the family  help them, this is informal learning. Later they go to school and learn in a formal situation. It means that we learn informally, when we interact with our family members and also formally in an educational institute. Learning takes place through our own experiences and under the guidance of others. However, in this Course, the focus is on formal teaching - learning process that takes place in an educational institution, under the supervision of a teacher and professionals, which is guided by the curriculum to achieve the pre-decided learning outcomes. 
The role of teachers is very crucial in teaching learning process. They are responsible for designing the instructional process keeping in mind the psychology of learners on one side and the effective pedagogical techniques on the other side The teachers facilitate the process of learning, they take care of the individual differences among learners and also  ensure that they are able to achieve the pre-decided learning outcomes, which may be in Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor domains of learning 
It is expected that the teachers, complete this course in 20 hours duration, which is spread over six weeks.  A variety of instructional methods have been used in this course, video presentations, activities and assignments, discussion forum and assessment.  

  • After completion of this MOOCs course, the teachers will be able to:
  • Suggest activities for classroom / Lab instruction sessions  in view of principles of learning derived from various perspectives 
  • Manage  variables affecting the process of learning to enhance effectiveness 
  • Suggest strategies to address the different learning styles of learners.
  • Formulate learning outcomes in the related discipline at different taxonomic levels of Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor domains 
  • Prepare an instructional plan based on events of instruction

Dr. Kiran Saksena

National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Bhopal
Dr. Kiran Saksena is currently working as a Professor in Department of Education and Research, in National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research, Bhopal. She has 35 years of experience of education, teacher training, research, national and international consultancy projects.  She has guided research studies at postgraduate and doctorate level, presented / published research papers in journals and international conferences and seminars. Prof. Kiran Saksena is Ph.D. (Education), M.Ed., M.A. (Applied Psychology) (University Gold medalist) and P.G. Diploma in Human Resources Management (IGNOU).She has been internationally trained in UK (1991), Philippines(1996) USA (1999) and visited many countries for presenting research / concept papers in Conferences.

If You wish to Get certified on this course you must register and write the proctored exam conducted by SWAYAM in person at any of the designated exam centers.
  • The Registration fee for the proctored exam is Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
  • Date and Time of Exams: December 2020 / January 2021 (tentative)
  • Announcements will be made when the exam registration form is open for registrations along with the url
  • The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE:
  • Internal assignment score = 30%, The average of best 3 assignments out of the total assignments given in the course.
  • Exam score = 70% of the proctored exam score out of 100
  • Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score
  • You will be eligible for a certificate only if average assignment score >=10/30 and exam score >= 30/70
  • Certificate will have your name, photograph, roll number and the percentage of score in the final exam. It will have the logos of MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development), SWAYAM and NITTTR. 
  • Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
