Learning Management System (LMS) is a software platform, which helps students learning a subject in distance mode. Study materials and associated information are stored in server(s) and students get those materials in form of video and otherwise in a flexible manner. LMS provides all such facilities to the students as well as other stakeholders so that this web-based teaching-learning system becomes much more effective.
This course provides an insight of various issues related to management of web-based learning process. We first provide some essential theoretical background, norms and standards being followed in any LMS and their utilities in effective learning system. Though design and development of an LMS is more of a software engineering job, we provide a brief overview of the process so that our clientele can get an idea of how the system works. This will help them in using any LMS. In the third part of our course, we provide overview of several open-source LMS.
