    This course on Basic Instructional Methods will prepare the participants (means teachers or potential teachers) to understand the issues related to general principles, pedagogy and management strategies used for instruction to facilitate learning. Instruction involves the activities performed by the teacher externally to promote internal process of learning for achieving the intended learning outcomes. For any given learning outcome, teachers may choose among a wide range of instructional methods, and effective teachers look for an appropriate match between the content to be taught and strategies for teaching that content. The selection of effective instructional method(s) depends on many factors, such as learning outcomes, group size, its level, and time available, etc. This course is intended to provide an exposure to various instructional methods through  video lectures, , text content, discussion forum, assignments, and self-assessment tools. Summative assessment will make the participant earn the credit and course completion certificate.

Prof. (Mrs.) Susan S. Mathew is currently working as Associate Professor, Deptt. of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Education in NITTTR, Bhopal. She is having 39 years of experience in training technical teachers using variety of teaching methods in the areas like curriculum design, laboratory management, development of instructional material for polytechnics, engineering colleges as well as industries. She is also presently the Associate Dean (Academics and Research), NITTTR Bhopal.


Dr. K. K. Jain is currently working as Professor, Deptt. of Mechanical Engg. Education at NITTTR Bhopal. He is having 37 years of experience in teacher training using variety of teaching methods in the areas like mechanical engineering, curriculum design & development, training and human resource development, programme planning, implementation and evaluation.

Dr. A. S. Walkey is currently working   as Professor and Head, Deptt. of Electrical & Electronics Engg. Education at NITTTR Bhopal. He is having 27 years of experience in training technical teachers using variety of teaching methods in the areas like power systems, curriculum design and development, instructional design & development, development of laboratory manuals, assessment systems, electrical and electronic equipment maintenance. He is also presently the Dean (Estate and Infrastructure Management), NITTTR Bhopal.

Interested Learners can enroll and learn the course for free. If You wish to Get certified on this course you must register and write the proctored exam conducted by SWAYAM in person at any of the designated exam centers.
  • The Registration fee for the proctored exam is Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
  • Date and Time of Exams: 2nd Saturday & Sunday of November (tentative); 
  • Announcements will be made when the exam registration form is open for registrations along with the url
  • The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.
  • Please check the form for more details on the cities where the exams will be held, the conditions you agree to when you fill the form etc.


  • Internal assignment score = 30%, The average of best 3 assignments out of the total assignments given in the course.
  • Exam score = 70% of the proctored exam score out of 100
  • Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score
  • You will be eligible for a certificate only if average assignment score >=10/30 and exam score >= 30/70
  • Certificate will have your name, photograph, roll number and the percentage of score in the final exam. It will have the logos of MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development), SWAYAM and NITTTR. 
  • Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
