Learners enrolled: 2320

The 21st Century is an era of media as well as information and communication technology (ICT) that has also transformed the world of education - whether it is imparting instruction by the teacher or even the way the students of the 21st century learn. Computers and the internet have today invaded instructional settings. Today’s teachers are bringing innovations in the teaching-learning process by integrating media and technology to facilitate the learning process of students in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains of learning. They examine the need for media and technology in the context of learning and its impact on the achievement of learning outcomes by the student.

In any educational institution, the teacher is expected to impart instruction on various curriculum contents to facilitate the learning process of students. In different learning environments, educational media play an important role in achieving the intended learning outcomes by facilitating the instructional communication process. Educational media are the means to achieve the desired learning outcomes in all three domains of learning. The choice of educational media depends on various factors and affects substantially overall learning. The development of effective educational media is a creative process. Both print and non-print media could be developed to suit the group size and learning styles of the learners. Researches related to educational or instructional media emphasize the use of different media elements such as text, graphics, visuals, audio, animations, video, and interactivity in media for effective and efficient learning by the learner. As a teacher of this era, there is a need to continuously update your skills considering recent development in teaching technologies and the use of a variety of media from the traditional chalkboard to augmented & virtual reality.

This MOOC course is designed to provide you with in-depth knowledge and skills in the area of educational media. This will facilitate you to comprehend the research-based instructional design and visual design principles, copyright issues in media development, and managing various educational media effectively in various learning situations such as classroom, laboratory, workshop, and technology-enabled learning through relevant video demonstrations and other learning resources.
