This module has been designed to train the faculty of technical institutions in use of virtual education and assessment approaches to effective learning. Not all faculty members are comfortable with virtual classrooms and there is a digital divide among those who have never used even the basic audio-visual equipment, relying mainly on chalkboard and flipcharts, and younger faculty who are aware of and adept at using newer technology.  It is in this context that the present module has been designed. The module will develop requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes amongst faculty to provide virtual education to students and effectively assess their performance online.

MODULE OUTCOMES

After going through this module, the learner will  be able to:

  • Describe the concept of virtual education, its need, concept, features, challenges, advantages, and tools. 
  • Describe the significance, features etc. of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.
  • Use various modern modes of instructional delivery.
  • Develop content for virtual learning.
  • Manage virtual classrooms and virtual laboratory
  • Describe the purpose and procedure of various types of assessment.
  • Undertake e-assessment for assessing the performance of students both in theory and practical subjects.

National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh

Dr. Maitreyee Dutta was graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Guahati University in 1993. She was the Gold medalist in her batch even All Branch topper of that year. She is working in National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh since 2001. She is now the Head of the department of Information Management and Emerging Engineering. From July 2015 to 2017 , she was Professor and Head of Electronics and Communication Engineering department and from 2017 to 2019, she was head of the department of Educational Television Centre of the same institute. She had initiated many activities in Computer Science Department. She completed three sponsored projects from Ministry of IT, New Delhi and one project from Ministry of Social Justice. She also completed one RPS project on Securing Billion of Things from AICTE, New Delhi. Besides these she had backed grants from AICTE to conduct FDPS, ATAl Programmes, Grant for Conference etc. She has set up two Cyber Security Lab in her department and gave the excellence fame to that lab. She has guided 9  Ph.d students in Image Processing and in Internet of Things and 4 are undergoing thesis work under her guidance.  She conducted free courses for the under-privileged students in collaboration with Social Welfare organization under UT Govt., Chandigarh   and for this she was awarded Rota Women distinction Award  by Rotary Club Chandigarh midtown in 2013. She had also received  Best Teacher Award from Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, Uttar Pradesh in 2013. After joining in  Electronics and Communication Department, she initiated hands on projects on Robotics by the students. Under her guidance, the students participated many robotics competition at IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, Baba Farid University, Chandigarh University, Gharuan etc. She initiated to establish Innovation Laboratory in the institute and also established one Start UP named Enovate Skill in the institute. She was given the charge as overall MOOC Coordinator and overall coordinator of ARPIT Courses by the director of NITTTR Chandigarh under which institute could launch 9 MOOC courses and 2 ARPIT courses till date out of which three are AICTE-NITTT modules. She had published 150 papers in International and National Journals and conferences. Many papers on IOT and Security in IOT have been published in SCI journals.





Dr. Srinivasa K G is a Professor of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Programme at DSPM IIIT-Naya Raipur, C. G. India. He is on lien as a Professor at Information Management and Emerging Engineering Department of National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh an autonomous Institute under Ministry of Education, Government of India. He also worked as an Associate Professor at CBP Government Engineering College, New Delhi (through UPSC) between 2016 – 19. He also served as Professor in the Department of CSE at M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore between 2003 – 2016.
He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangalore University in 2007. He is the recipient of All India Council for Technical Education – Career Award for Young Teachers, Indian Society of Technical Education – ISGITS National Award for Best Research Work Done by Young Teachers, Institution of Engineers (India) – IEI Young Engineer Award in Computer Engineering, Rajarambapu Patil National Award for Promising Engineering Teacher Award from ISTE – 2012, IMS Singapore – Visiting Scientist Fellowship Award. He has published more than 150 research papers in International Conferences and Journals. He has visited many Universities abroad as a visiting researcher – He has visited University of Oklahoma, USA, Iowa State University, USA, Hong Kong University, Korean University, National University of Singapore, University of British Columbia, Canada are his few prominent visits. He has authored many books in the area of Learning Analytics, Network Data Analytics, Soft Computing, Social Network Analysis, High Performance Computing, R Programming etc. with prestigious international publishers like Springer, TMH, Oxford, Cengage, and IGI Global. He has edited research monographs in the area of Cyber Physical Systems, Fog Computing and Energy Aware Computing with CRC Press and IGI Global.
He has been awarded BOYSCAST Fellowship by DST, Govt. of India, for conducting post-doctoral research work at University of Melbourne, Australia. He is the principal Investigator for many funded projects from AICTE, UGC, DRDO, and DST. He has undertaken consultancy projects worth 60 lakhs towards conducting Professional Development Programmes under World Bank Project. He is the senior member of IEEE and ACM. His recent research areas include Innovative Teaching Practices in Engineering Education, pedagogy; outcomes based education, and teaching philosophy.

  • The online registration form has to be filled and the certification exam fee needs to be paid. More details will be made available when the exam registration form is published. If there are any changes, it will be mentioned then.

CRITERIA TO GET A CERTIFICATE:
  • Internal assignment score = 30%, The average of best 3 assignments out of the total assignments given in the course.
  • Exam score = 70% of the proctored exam score out of 100
  • Final score = Average assignment score + Exam score
  • You will be eligible for a certificate only if average assignment score >=10/30 and exam score >= 30/70
  • Certificate will have your name, photograph, roll number and the percentage of score in the final exam. It will have the logos of MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development), SWAYAM and NITTTR. 
  • Only the e-certificate will be made available. Hard copies will not be dispatched.
