Recently the quality of higher education in general and engineering education, in particular, has drawn considerable attention. In view of the expansion of engineering education over the last three decades and in the backdrop of growing suboptimal levels of employability, quality assurance of engineering education has assumed greater significance. Recognizing the need to overhaul the education system, the NEP-2020 has come out with path-breaking reforms in higher education. Some of these include learning outcome focus, Accreditation & quality assurance, and multidisciplinary holistic education to develop world-class citizens with roots in Indian ethos. Higher education is thus poised to become quality focused with emphasis on attainment of learning outcomes. Proper understanding of the quality of education is the first step to developing quality outcomes. However, education quality draws divergent views. Here we consider Outcome Based Education approach to develop the quality concept.

This Course sets out the quality aspect of education and looks at ways to manage it as an integral part of institutional performance. While going through this module, faculty will be trained and update themselves about quality in technical education & quality assurance; key performance indicators in Accreditation; innovative curriculum design; and assessment & evaluation for quality improvement, process and criteria for the programme and institution-level Accreditation, and international & Indian ranking frameworks.
