With the advent of Internet and world wide web (www), the access to information has become very easy and the entire world is moving towards digitization. Twenty first century students learn in a global classroom and not necessarily within four walls. They are more inclined to find information by accessing the Internet through mobile phones and computers, or chatting with friends on a social networking site. The advancements in technology and the plethora of powerful and innovative digital devices and tools have a great potential to improve educational outcomes.  Educators must understand that the use of digital content and devices will improve teaching and learning and thus enhance educational opportunities and benefit the Millennial. This course on E-content development is meant to understand the meaning and standards of E-content, learning objects, designing and development of digital resources for teaching and learning. Thus this course aims in providing the knowledge and skill for teachers to cater to present day learners and their learning styles.

Total study time anticipated is between 40 - 45 hours in 8 weeks (including watching video films) with equivalence to 3 credits.

Dr. P. Malliga, Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chennai, brings over 32 years of experience in teaching, training, research, and development. Her expertise spans databases, ICT-enabled teaching and learning, instructional design, e-learning, open education, and immersive technologies. With 26 research publications in reputed journals and conferences, she has also authored a self-instructional course material on “Instructional Design for E-Learning” for Anna University’s MCA Distance Mode program. She has conducted over 450 training programs for polytechnic and engineering college teachers and trained approximately 400 overseas educators in areas like IT, educational video production, and e-learning media production. A pioneer in educational innovation, Dr. Malliga has established a state-of-the-art studio facility, an XR Lab, and the Experiential Learning Technology Centre (XLTC) at NITTTR Chennai, advancing immersive and experiential learning. Her extensive expertise and dedication to educational technology make her an outstanding instructor for this MOOC on E-Content Development.


Course certificate

"The SWAYAM Course Enrolment and learning is free. However, to obtain a certificate, the learner must register and take the proctored exam in person at one of the designated exam centres. The registration URL will be announced by NTA once the registration form becomes available. To receive the certification, you need to complete the online registration form and pay the examination fee. Additional details, including any updates, will be provided upon the publication of the exam registration form. For more information about the exam locations and the terms associated with completing the form, please refer to the form itself."

 

Grading Policy:

 

- Internal Assignment Score: This accounts for 30% of the final grade and is calculated based on the average of the best three assignments out of all the assignments given in the course.

- Final Proctored Exam Score: This makes up 70% of the final grade and is derived from the proctored exam score out of 100.

- Final Score: The final score is the sum of the average assignment score and the exam score.

 

Eligibility for Certification:

 

- To qualify for a certificate, you must achieve an average assignment score of at least 10 out of 30, and an exam score of at least 30 out of 70. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >=40/100.

Certificate Details:

 

- The certificate will include your name, photograph, roll number, and the percentage score from the final exam. It will also feature the logos of the Ministry of Education, SWAYAM, and NITTTR.

- Certificate Format: Only electronic certificates (e-certificates) will be issued; hard copies will not be dispatched.
