By Dr. Akila S. Indurti   |   Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vahini (A unit of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust)
Learners enrolled: 1964
The seventeen Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 serve as a compelling call to action to eradicate poverty, safeguard the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. The need of the hour is to enable the young to become aware that they are the inheritors and torchbearers of the future. In order to bring about this transformation, teachers' capacities have to be enhanced so that they are able to impart education for sustainable development with confidence by integrating it into their regular curriculum. This course, 'Education for Sustainable Development,' equips learners with the necessary knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes needed to foster a sustainable world with modules that include interesting teaching methods and pedagogic practices, along with providing frameworks for innovative thinking in this domain. This course is practical, useful, and enjoyable, and learners will be able to incorporate many of its practices into their daily lives, transforming themselves into agents of change and thus contributing to a sustainable world.
