This course is designed to help learners get deeper into the concepts of 3D printing of Auxetic structures, enhancing their knowledge and ability to apply auxetic structures in practical environments.


 The course content is focused on various open-source 3D printing technologies for fabricating auxetic structures and their applications in multiple fields.


 Learners will study and practice innovative material science applications and manufacturing technologies in a practical sense.


 The course will cover the fundamental principles of auxetic materials and how these characteristics might be used in advanced 3D printing processes.


 Learners will acquire knowledge by developing and creating different auxetic shapes using advanced additive manufacturing techniques involving metal, polymer, and gel printing.


 The course will also examine the integration of these structures into sensor systems, emphasizing their capacity to improve sensitivity and adaptability in various applications. 

 

 Total study time is 20 hours, including e-learning material and web sources. The course is of 2 credits.

 6. Week 6: Introduction to sensors, types of sensors, preparation of sensors in-house, applications in different fields as IoT-based solutions for digital twinning

 

 7. Week 7: Case Studies in veterinary, orthopaedic and dentistry applications with in-house developed materials/ prototypes 

 

 8. Week 8: Case Studies for 4D applications of auxetic structures in metal, polymer and gel printing

Instructor bio

Dr. Rupinder Singh

National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh

Dr Rupinder Singh is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technical Teacher Training and Research, Chandigarh. He has received a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology Patiala. His areas of research are additive manufacturing, 4D printing, composite filament processing, rapid tooling, metal casting, and plastic solid waste management. He has authored more than 400 science citation-indexed research papers, 10 books, and more than 100 book chapters, and has presented more than 100 research papers at various National/international conferences. Dr. Singh has been listed among the top 2% of scientists in the world, as reported by Stanford University in the year 2020-2023.


Course certificate

"The SWAYAM Course Enrolment and learning is free. However, to obtain a certificate, the learner must register and take the proctored exam in person at one of the designated exam centres. The registration URL will be announced by NTA once the registration form becomes available. To receive the certification, you need to complete the online registration form and pay the examination fee. Grading Policy:

 

- Internal Assignment Score: This accounts for 30% of the final grade and is calculated based on the average of the best three assignments out of all the assignments given in the course.

- Final Proctored Exam Score: This makes up 70% of the final grade and is derived from the proctored exam score out of 100.

- Final Score: The final score is the sum of the average assignment score and the exam score.

 

Eligibility for Certification:

 

- To qualify for a certificate, you must achieve an average assignment score of at least 10 out of 30, and an exam score of at least 30 out of 70. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >=40/100.

Certificate Details:

 

- The certificate will include your name, photograph, roll number, and the percentage score from the final exam. It will also feature the logos of the Ministry of Education, SWAYAM, and NITTTR.

- Certificate Format: Only electronic certificates (e-certificates) will be issued; hard copies will not be dispatched.
