Dr. M. Anil Kumar

National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chennai

Dr. M. Anil Kumar works as an Associate Professor in the Department of Rural and Entrepreneurship Development at NITTTR, Chennai. Prior joining NITTTR, he was a Senior Scientist at CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI), Bhavnagar and Honorary Assistant Professor at Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research, Ghaziabad from 2015 to 2023. He has also served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Madha Engineering College, Chennai from 2012 to 2014. He holds an undergraduate degree in B.Tech., Biotechnology and specialization in M. Tech., Environmental Science & Technology and Ph.D., Technology from Anna University, Chennai (India).

He is an Environmental Engineer with more than 12 years’ experience in diverse sectors; LNG terminals, ship breaking yards, ports, and harbours. He was a recognized EIA coordinator for Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) as well as functional area expert of Water Pollution Monitoring & Pollution Control; Solid and Hazardous Waste Management by NABET; an apex body under Quality Council of India. He has gained expertise in core functional areas like marine ecosystem, water pollution, industrial waste management, risk & hazard management, impact mapping, mitigation, and preparation of environmental management plan. As an investigator/consultant/team member, he had been associated in more than 25 sponsored research/consultancy projects. He is a trained biotechnologist and has working experience in strain improvement, bioprocessing, downstream processing of enzymes and microbial metabolites. 

He is currently working in the mandate of Centre for Rural and Entrepreneurship Development at NITTTR Chennai and taking care of SWAYAM and research activities of NITTTR Chennai.

He has actively involved in HRD management through Jigyasa Programme; a visionary programme of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi during 2016-2023. He is an active advisory committee member/examiner for doctoral scholars registered in AcSIR, NIT, Anna University, Bharathiar University, SRM University, and Bharathidasan University.

To his credit, he has authored more than 65 publications in SCI/Scopus/UGC listed journals and contributed 15 chapters in books published by International Publishers. His research areas include Environmental Management, Bioremediation, Nanomaterials, Biomass Valorization, Method Development & Process Design. He has co-supervised 01 doctoral scholar, supervised more than 20 UG/PG dissertations, and delivered many invited talks at different forums. He is an active member in many professional bodies and an invited anonymous reviewer in many International/National journals of repute. He is also an editor in the Journal of Hazardous Materials Advances, Elsevier.


Course certificate

"The SWAYAM Course Enrolment and learning is free. However, to obtain a certificate, the learner must register and take the proctored exam in person at one of the designated exam centres. The registration URL will be announced by NTA once the registration form becomes available. To receive the certification, you need to complete the online registration form and pay the examination fee. Additional details, including any updates, will be provided upon the publication of the exam registration form. For more information about the exam locations and the terms associated with completing the form, please refer to the form itself."



Grading Policy:



- Internal Assignment Score: This accounts for 30% of the final grade and is calculated based on the average of the best three assignments out of all the assignments given in the course.

- Final Proctored Exam Score: This makes up 70% of the final grade and is derived from the proctored exam score out of 100.

- Final Score: The final score is the sum of the average assignment score and the exam score.



Eligibility for Certification:



- To qualify for a certificate, you must achieve an average assignment score of at least 10 out of 30, and an exam score of at least 30 out of 70. If one of the 2 criteria is not met, you will not get the certificate even if the Final score >=40/100.


Certificate Details:



- The certificate will include your name, photograph, roll number, and the percentage score from the final exam. It will also feature the logos of the Ministry of Education, SWAYAM, and NITTTR.

- Certificate Format: Only electronic certificates (e-certificates) will be issued; hard copies will not be dispatched.
