Traffic engineering is a branch of civil engineering dedicated to ensuring the safe, efficient, and rapid movement of people and goods on our road systems. The primary goal of traffic engineering is to reduce congestion and minimize accidents by scientifically analyzing and managing how people, vehicles, and goods interact with the physical infrastructure. Traffic engineers work on both existing roads and the design of new ones, applying a problem-solving approach to transportation challenges. It focuses on optimizing traffic flow, minimizing congestion, reducing crashes, and improving overall transportation system performance.

This course covers topics such as the fundamentals of traffic studies, road safety, intersection design, traffic control devices, and management techniques, including one-way streets and pedestrian facilities. Course details are bifurcated into 8 weeks, and the details are as follows.
